Current research

I have a broad background in bioinformatics, including analysis of metabolic and protein-protein intereaction networks, prokaryotic genome annotation, metagenomics, phylogenetics and protein domain analysis.

In the last year I have worked on four major projects:

- The evolution of the actin-crosslinker Filamin, a domain repeat containing protein that has undergone repeat expansions in several invertebrates.

- I have worked as a support bioinformatician on a project that serves to annotate the genome of a prokaryotic pathogen (together with Jan-Willem de Gier's group at DBB).

- Exploration of attenuated translation of membrane proteins together with Dan Daley's group.

- The evolution of long repeat proteins.

Research interests

  • Comparative genomics
  • Protein-protein interactions
